Reflections on Purpose: A Journey of Evolving

Yesterday, as I enjoyed a piece of dark chocolate outside Kings College, connecting with everything around me, I noticed a couple sitting a few meters away. The girl had purchased a vegan bowl with an arepa on the side from the Arepas Stall at Cambridge market. She exclaimed, "This is so good!" I chuckled and remembered what led Ivan, Reny, and me to introduce the Arepa in this city.

Seven years later, for many, the arepa has become a favorite part of their meals. At that moment, I thought, if only she knew the story behind the arepa she's enjoying. I felt grateful for our journey, for bringing our ideas to life, and for that Arepas Stall – which we sold a while ago but still brings happiness to people.

I expressed gratitude for my roots and for being in Cambridge. And I realized that perhaps we might have different life purposes; they might not remain the same throughout our lives. However, I believe there's a thread that ties all these different purposes together. Within this thread lies our purest essence, which will accompany us into our next purpose.

Just as it has been a life purpose to provide the Cambridge community with a new option for healthy food, it's also my life purpose to build community with women, to heal through writing...I brought up this question during a discussion with a group of beautiful friends I spent time with this week. I asked them, "What do you think your life purpose is? Do you believe we all have a purpose?" One of them said something beautiful, "I believe my purpose is to sow little seeds through my academy, through art." Her connecting thread is art – her talent – which moves her in a vibrant, natural, and authentic way.

The call to evolve through our purpose asks different things from us through the various facets of our lives. However, today I've been pondering the discomfort of these evolutionary phases that demand so much from us. As Catalina says, "We need to tap into our neurological system and recognize that discomfort is urging us to move from a place that has become too small for us, where we no longer feel good and that no longer serves us, even if our ego wants to say otherwise."

This evolution of the soul requires us to continue healing our internal dialogues and uncovering the emotions that paralyze us.This evolution also asks us to bring our value into consciousness – to acknowledge who we are and who we can become. How beautiful our human existence is!!!!

This week, during one of my yoga classes, a memory resurfaced. When I was a child, my mother took me to a ballet class once. I remember the teacher telling my mom, "We can't accept your daughter because she doesn't have the correct weight." Hearing this as a child planted a limiting belief in me – that I wasn't enough and that I was rejected.

This familiar emotion arises when I desire something and that emotion knocks on the door. Sometimes I don't ask for what I want or I fear that overwhelming desire due to the fear of rejection. Yet, that rejection is not external; it's internal.

Today, I'm undergoing an uncomfortable, intense transition. I'm engaged in constant conversations about evolution and courage as I transition to another life purpose that won't be silenced. This purpose speaks to me intensely every day.

Today, I stand here, baring my soul, with a restless spirit and a tired body, but with an immense desire to keep moving. I have an intense yearning to continue believing in this path, where I'm grounding my heels firmly so that there's no doubt I'm taking determined steps forward.

Do you know your life purpose? What is the essence that ties each of your purposes together? Do you hear that inner voice calling you to follow your purpose?

OF COURSE COULD CHANGE and evolve over time. Just like a compass needle, our direction in life may shift as we gain new experiences, insights, and passions. It's a natural part of personal growth and self-discovery. Embrace the journey, explore different paths, and trust that you'll find your true north when the time is right. Keep following your inner compass, and you'll discover the unique direction meant for you. Here I interest interview that I listen from Rich Roll: https://youtu.be/JO9dDHfPIq8?si=7vPRBfiIzwahzLrB Thanks for sharing your comment
