DON'T GIVE UP

Repetitive as it may be, this phrase has served me well in these past few days, where I remind myself daily that I refuse to give up, even in the face of the to-do list, uncertainty, and the life I envision for myself. I will not give up on my responsibilities and the beautiful responsibility of living. I will not give up!

Recently, my mom recommended a movie about swimmer Diana Nyad (You can find it on Netflix), an inspiring story for those of us who hunger to chase dreams. These dreams don't necessarily have to be grand feats like a Guinness record or swimming from Cuba to Florida at 64. It could be refusing to give up on your business, on your online yoga classes, on your quest for love, on insisting that women recognise their worth, on your financial freedom, on living fully and peacefully, on the dream of leaving this world better than you found it through your own mark.

One crucial lesson from this movie is the importance of the people accompanying you in your journey. It's crucial to have people who won't let us give up and who inspire us to do better each day.

Yes, for better or for worse, today you are leaving a mark. Think about the impact you create daily; your life matters!

Today, I break a little as I write this to you. I've been pondering this piece since the beginning of the week. This has been my mantra: Amazonia, don't give up. Don't give up on finding the best company to transport Thomas, on your search for a new remote job, on your women's circles, creating spaces you know our communities need, on going to the gym on a bike even when it's raining.

Thomas when was little

Alongside this mantra, I've reminded myself of moments where mental strength has been my best friend. Like when I challenge myself with cold-water exposure, when I fasted for 56 hours in January, when I was cycling in the rain and cold but knew I had to reach the set goal, when people didn't know what an arepa was and wouldn't buy from us out of fear of exploring, the 10 days of meditation learning Vipassana technique, my solo trip to Japan where I experienced so much, when I arrived in Cambridge only knowing "Hello" and numbers, or when I had to work in a hotel cleaning and absolutely hated Henry the vacuum cleaner with his happy face. All this helps me regain my strength and be my own coach. Amazonia, don't give up. My own story is my greatest motivation. I draw inspiration from others' stories and completely open my mind and heart to learn from human connections that add value to me. I have so much to learn.

Lee, who gives everything a scientific and rational name, says what drives me is dopamine. I call it: an immense desire to live and not settle. If I've been given a life to live, I'd rather live it fully, right?

In 2021, I drew this picture you'll see below, of me with Thomasito on the beach. I had no idea how the topic of moving near the sea would come up, nor did I think about the idea of going to Spain. Since then, I can say that every step has been worth it, every promise I've kept to myself has been worth it. Sometimes we get frustrated because we don't know how things will happen, but as Catalina says, if the "why" is strong enough, the "how" will show itself. Trust!

I've learned through experiences that sometimes we're not ready for what we want so badly. I must confess, in 2021, I wasn't prepared. In these two years, I've worked intensely to be able to take this step.

Today, while I was walking, I came across this slogan from a construction company, and I thought it was brilliant. Who came up with the idea? And I was just thinking about the topic of work, and poof: "Infinite possibilities". So, I added this mantra to my week, Amazonia, remember: Infinite possibilities.

There's not just one way things should happen; there are multiple possibilities. But we have to step out of the boxes and check our mental structure.

Yesterday, I read this in one of my favorite books, "Manifesto for the Everyday Heroes": “The discomfort of transformation will bring back the joy of new wisdom and the purest power. You are stronger and braver than you imagine.” Robin Sharma.

Today, my blog post is to remind you and myself:

DON'T GIVE UP

THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS

AND YOUR DAILY ACTION ALWAYS LEAVES A MARK

Note: Infinite thanks for continuing to read my blog, thanks to the people who don't allow me to give up!

Ah, I needed this post. Thanks, Amazonia! Every day I feel close to give up learning spanish. It is so hard! There are 2.538 verb conjugations, random genders for everything, and a bizarre new invention called a reflexive verb, whatever that is. 😄 Thanks for the motivation to keep going. Keep up the good work.
